Explain the main purpose of the Employment Equity Act (EEA), 1998 (Act 55 of 1998) with specific reference to Elma's claim of JE's non-compliance with this Act

  1. This Act states that employees who do the same work (work of equal value)  must be paid equally (equal pay).
  2. No discrimination on grounds of gender in the workplace. -
  3. Promotes equal opportunity and fair treatment in the workplace.
  4. Protects employees from victimisation if they exercise the rights given to them  by the EEA. 
  5.  Provides for employees to refer unresolved disputes to the CCMA.
  6. Any other relevant answer related to the purpose of the EEA.
